I lived near Whittier for several years many years after Mary Frances K Fisher did, and by that time the Quakers were a minority in town, but still a real presence.
I was interested in the background of one of the early "foodies". I have enjoyed the author's other books. This answered a number of my questions||"If I were still teaching high school English, I'd use Fisher's books to show how to write simply, how to enjoy food and drink but, most of all, how to enjoy life.
